Getting the Display to Work

Nvidia Display Drivers

  • Ensure you have the livna repo and yumex installed, as given on "Update of Fedora Linux for latest Software and Patches".

  • Start up a terminal, and as "Super User", issue the command yum install kmod-nvidia (For very old nvidia cards, you might have to use the kmod-nvidia-96xx package).

  • Once installed, after a restart of X (Ctrl + Alt + Backsapce), you should be using the nvidia display driver.

Adjusting the Resolution and other Display Properties

If using a NVIDIA display card with the NVIDIA drivers, it is suggested to use the nvidia-setttings program to configure the display properties.

To use this program, simply:

  • Start up a shell terminal as "root" or "superuser".

  • Issue the command nvidia-settings

  • Then to change display propertities, simply select the "X Server Display Configuration" as can be seen in the below image.
