Install Linux notes for the Dell T3400 Machine
The document has been developed to provide assistance with setting up an Access Grid on a Dell T3400 workstation.
You can upgrade the BIOS of a Dell Precision T3400 System by using the following Linux installer: http://support.ap.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=au&l=en&s=gen&deviceid=15260&libid=1&releaseid=R196273&vercnt=8&formatcnt=0&SystemID=PRE_T3400&servicetag=&os=BIOSA&osl=en&catid=-1&impid=-1
It can be difficult to adjust the various variables within the audio device to be able to produce reasonable quality audio.
An audio configuration file has been saved from the CQU AG-Rockhampton node which may assist with getting the levels to an acceptable initial level. Further tweaking may be required, but this audio configuration will provide a good foundation for your audio settings.
Download the file http://www.accessgrid.org/files/cqu-rocky-sound.cfg_.txt.
Then simply execute the command:
/usr/sbin/alsactl restore –f cqu-rocky-sound.cfg_.txt
