Rat not working correctly

There are some known outstanding issues with PulseAudio, see "PulseAudio Trouble Shooting" section within http://www.accessgrid.org/node/891 on possible solutions to this problem.

General poor audio quality

Using ALSA, rather than OSS within rat, sometimes produces poor audio quality. This includes both transmitting and receiving. Simply using the OSS Driver within RAT may improve quality.

OSS driver keeps switching to ALSA driver within Rat

If you find that switching from Venue to Venue sometimes causes rat to revert to using the ALSA driver, a possible solution is presented in the "Delaying Rat" section within http://www.accessgrid.org/node/891.

Experiencing loop-back audio, or changing the "talk" gain has no real effect

A solution to this problem is that you may have to change the force_ac97 setting within the Audio Service. See "Additional Settings" within http://www.accessgrid.org/node/891 to see how to change this setting.

Video Issues

Video transmission video appears green, interlaced or colour chrominance is ghostly.

This is generally caused by having the input device signal incorrect. Example, PAL is the default for most cameras in Australia, whereas NTSC is the default in the U.S.

Shared Application Issues

Shared presentation doesn't work

Ensure "openoffice.org-pyuno" is installed, as described in the "Installation of Additional Access Grid Software" within http://www.accessgrid.org/node/886
