Getting the Display to Work

Nvidia Display Drivers

  1. Ensure you have the livna repo and yumex installed, as given on "Update of Fedora Core Linux for latest Software and Patches".

  2. Start up a terminal, and as "Super User", issue the command yumex

  3. Once yumex has started, click on the install button

  4. Type in nvidia and hit enter, as this should only display items that involves nvidia.

  5. Select the following packages: kmod-nvidia; kmod-nvidia-kdump; kmod-nvidia-smp; xorg-x11-drv-nvidia; xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-devel; as can be seen from the image above.

  6. Once all the packages have been selected, click on the "Add to Queue" button.

  7. Then click on the "Queue" button on the left hand side of yumex.

  8. The to install the setected packages, simply click on the "Process Queue" button.

  9. Once the headers for the packges have been downloaded, a pop-up window will be display, like above. Click on the okay button to download the packages and install.

  10. Start up another "terminal" as "Super-User".

  11. Issue the command cd /etc/X11

  12. Then, make a backup copy of the xorg.conf file, by issuing the command cp xorg.conf xorg.conf.mybackup.

  13. You might wish to use the file xorg.conf.agr.txt as a reference configuration file.
