Networking Requirements
The amount of traffic coming in to an AG node varies, depending on the
number of other nodes participating in any given event. During AG events,
each node receives the traffic from all the other nodes. A current rule of
thumb is to plan for 10 mbit/sec for a 3-node event, adding another 2
mbit/sec for additional participating nodes.
We require a multicast enabled 100bT connection to the node hardware and
strongly recommend at least DS3 bandwidth to the Internet from the node.
Organizations that are not currently multicast-enabled should send mail to
mcast-support@accessgrid.org for further assistance.
Audio and Video capture computer OS and software requirements:
These systems should be bare PCs. The AG installation process will install a fresh Linux based operating system on these systems and all required applications.
The audio computer needs a valid permanent license from http://www.opensound.com .
Display computer OS and software requirements:
This computer requires a fresh installation of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, with Service Pack 1. Also, Microsoft Powerpoint 2000 needs to be installed to support distributed PowerPoint services. The Display computer AG installation program will install all other required software.
Control Computer:
This computer requires Windows98 be preinstalled. The Gentner Audio Perfect software must be installed.
